Concerts and live music at Scarborough Open Air Theatre

Scarborough Open Air Theatre is located on Burniston Road, opposite Peasholm Park near the North Bay. It has a capacity of 8,000 seats and is one of the largest amphitheatres in Europe.

Whilst the live music programme is mainly throughout the summer months, as an outdoor venue, the concerts go ahead come rain or shine – so it’s always best to dress for the weather when visiting to avoid being caught short! But it’s worth noting, you cannot use an umbrella – as they could block someone’s view!

The SOAT, as it is often abbreviated or referred to, was first opened in 1932 and then closed in 1986. After a major refurbishment, the venue was reopened again by Her Majesty The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh in May 2010.

Since then, the SOAT has played host to some of the world’s best known acts including Elton John, Kylie, Noel Gallagher and Lionel Richie.

“Exceptional!

We stayed at these apartments to attend a concert in Scarborough.  The kids loved it, Mcd’s right opposite. Win win for the parents. No cooking, lol. There is no on-site parking, but there is a car park not too far…

We would 100% book again, a clean and comfortable stay, well equipped apartment with everything you need and very close to the front. Central location. Highly recommend.”
